News: Expired: T.R.E.A.T.S. Dog Adoption Program

Published Mon October 16, 2017

The TREATS Program has been discontinued.

T.R.E.A.T.S. is a partnership between Osceola County Animal Services and the Transition House in Kissimmee. The dogs in the program receive training and extra attention for enhanced adoptability. This training includes, but is not limited to:

  • Crate training

  • Housebreaking

  • Behavior

  • Walking on a leash

  • Obedience

  • Some tricks

The trainers gain some of the skills necessary for their transition back into the work force; the dogs get around the clock supervision and constant reinforcement for the training that they have received. These animals are housed at the Transition House, but are still available for adoption. All interactions with potential adopters are conducted by the Animal Services professional staff.

Anyone interested in adopting one of these animals needs to contact the program coordinator at the shelter: treats@osceola.org. You can donate specifically to the TREATS program by adding “TREATS program” in the note section of your donation.
