Before filing a lost pet report

► Contact all area shelters and file a lost report.

► Contact area vet clinics

► Check Facebook, Craigslist and other social media sites as many people will post found pet ads online.

► Check our citizen-generated found pet reports.

We recommend

► An Osceola County license tag. Animal Services staff have access to this information 24/7 and we will help get your pet back home.

► A microchip is helpful when a tag is lost or stolen. This is a permanent form of identification to help ensure you are reunited with your pet.

► Microchip information can be updated using the chip manufacturer’s website.

Pet reclaim process

If your pet has been brought to Osceola County Animals Services, you will need to:

► Visit the shelter located at 3910 Old Canoe Creek Rd, St. Cloud, FL 34769 during our hours of operation.

What to bring

Bring the following items to the shelter with you when reclaiming a pet:

• personal identification

• proof of current rabies vaccine

• proof of animal ownership (vet bill, bill of sale, chip information)

► Enter the lobby and sign in. You will be escorted through the shelter so that you can identify what may be your lost pet.

► You will be returned to the lobby with your pet’s paperwork where a clerk will start the reclaim process as follows:

• your identification will be checked

• proof of animal ownership (vet bill, bill of sale, chip information)

• rabies vaccine will be verified

• If current rabies vaccination cannot be verified in accordance with 828.30, Florida Statute, , a rabies vaccine will be administered to your pet by the shelter veterinarian prior to release.

Fees that may be part of your pet reclaim:

Any fees assessed are based on individual circumstances and the animal’s history with us.

• citations and/or fines
