Social Media and Events Internship

Location: Saint Cloud, Florida

Description: Osceola County Animal Services is seeking a Social Media and Events Intern to support outreach and education in our community.

Under the supervision of the Community Outreach / Volunteer Coordinator, the Social Media and Events Intern will perform support duties such as social media postings, website updates, email and phone correspondence, research, creating and updating documents and spreadsheets, and assisting with planning a large event. Other duties include but are not limited to photography and video filming and editing.

This is an unpaid, part-time position. Minimum of 15 hours per week, working at least 2 days at the shelter and may include hours worked from home. Intern office hours are typically between 9-4, with one work day being Saturday and one weekday per week for one of the following terms: January – April, May – August, September – December.  On site work required each Saturday, 5 hours; other on site hours, at least 5 hours per week. The balance can be done from home.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily postings on social media

  • Assist with staffing adoption events at the shelter and our partner pet store locations

  • Assist in planning and organizing a large event

  • Create and maintain files for record keeping and reporting

  • Create video projects for use on social media and the website to increase pet adoptions and awareness, to recruit volunteer/foster support, and promote special events

  • Photograph volunteers, fosters, events, and animals for use in social media and website projects

Requirements:

  • Experience in social media including Facebook and Instagram

  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented

  • Passionate about planning events and social media marketing

  • Able to anticipate project needs and meet deadlines with minimal supervision

  • An engaging communicator with strong written and verbal skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other commonly used communication programs

  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s License and have reliable transportation

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must complete a background screening through Osceola County prior to start date

  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program, either in vocational school or college and registered for courses during the internship period. College students may be enrolled as either the undergraduate or graduate level. Students must have completed one year of coursework or 15 credit hours and have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or above. Graduate students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Animal Services does not provide college credit but will work with the intern and their supporting program.
