News: Intercession City Rabies Alert

Issued February 19, 2026.
► A raccoon that was found off South Orange Blossom Train and Poinciana Blvd. tested positive for rabies.
► The Florida Department of Health issued a rabies alert for 60 days beginning on February 19, 2026 and ending on April 20, 2026.
► Area included in the alert:
• Okaloosa Ave on the Northern boundary
• Wile Ave on the Southern boundary
• Avenue A on the Eastern boundary
• Old Tampa Highway on the Western boundary

► What you should do:
•• Make sure that all of your pets are up to date with their rabies vaccines.
•• Stay clear of wild animals; do not feed them.
•• Immediately report any wild animal bites or scratches to Florida Health – Osceola at 407-742-8606 after washing with soap and running water for 10 minutes.
