Required prerequisites
  • attend seminar
  • cat care module complete
  • cat basics complete
  • dog care module complete
  • dog basics complete
  • guest care module complete
  • guest care training complete
  • nomination by team member
  • permission of department team
  • recommendation of staff
Position description
  • extensive shelter experience at Osceola County Animal Services (at least a year)
  • completion of the entire training process, including
  • dog care, cat care, guest care (high level), foster care (at least the module)
  • knowledge of shelter operations and facility
  • knowledge of shelter staff names and functions
  • willingness to work with individuals and groups
  • willingness to do public speaking
  • time in your schedule to conduct training
Other attributes required
  • access to the internet and email
  • at least 18 years of age
  • lift 30 - 50 pounds
  • not allergic to animals
  • not allergic to cleaning products
  • walk distances
  • work with the public
  • writing skills
  • share ideas
  • organization skills
Other position details

Team training mentors are required to introduce and guide new team members, both staff and volunteers, through the many phases of shelter operations and procedures.

Selection as a mentor will be made by the volunteer coordinator and other team members.
