Position description
  • Be willing to socialize (work and play with) the animal.
  • Be observant of the animal and report any suspected illness.
  • Live in a home/apartment that allows animals.
  • Approval of family to foster.
  • Have a safe, confined space for the animal.
  • Transportation available to bring the animal to the shelter for appointments.
Other attributes required
  • access to the internet and email
  • access to a vehicle
  • at least 18 years of age
Other position details

Foster Care Training is different from other facets of the shelter in that you can begin fostering as soon as the online module(s) have been completed. Please note:the majority of the animals requiring this service are cats and kittens; just a few dogs.
► Animal Services will provide all food, equipment and medication required. Any equipment or medical expenses that the foster incurs without the permission of shelter staff will not be reimbursed.
► Current volunteers in good standing do not need to complete the foster application, but should speak with the supervisor.
