News: Microchip Event
April is Stray Pet Awareness Month and we are having a microchip event to help microchip animals in Osceola County.
The event will be Saturday April 27th from 9am to 1 pm. We will be setting up at Parts Alternative Import Auto Parts at 2613 North Orange Blossom Trail in Kissimmee and we will be giving free microchips to owned animals until we run out!
Most of the animals that we have here at the shelter come to us as strays and, because we have no owner information, it can become very hard to reunite animals with their owners.
► Microchips are little rice-sized implants that go right under the skin between your pets shoulder blade area.
► They carry all the owners information in them that can’t be removed or fall off like traditional collars and tags can.
► Upon coming into the shelter, all animals are scanned for a chip and the chip gives us immediate access to all owner information allowing us to contact the owner as soon as the animal arrives at the shelter.
